Abstract
The paper discusses the role and the importance of the "Biser" magazine as a medium of the idea of education among Bosnian Muslims with its progressive values and emancipatory concept. We will describe the socio-political circumstances caused by the occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina by Austria-Hungary in 1878, its annexation in 1908 and the situation of Muslims in this new reality. We also identify the most important institutions as tools for the education of Bosnian Muslims. So too are the conditions of the creation of the "Biser" magazine, its significant assumptions and goals. Main attention was paid to the presented religious values and dogmas of Islam and their impact on the emancipation of the Bosnian community. We conclude that this magazine has great merits for Bosnian Muslims, both in spreading awareness of the importance of education among them, promoting the ideas of enlightenment, progressive values and modernization, as well as emancipation.
